Furina Build Guide
Furina is the Hydro Archon and arguably the most versatile support character in Genshin Impact. As a 5-star Hydro Sword user, she provides an enormous team-wide DMG% buff through her Burst’s Fanfare mechanic, while her Skill deploys three Hydro minions that deal consistent off-field damage and drain team HP. Her unique HP-manipulation playstyle enables the Marechaussee Hunter artifact set on any carry, and her buff is so universal that she slots into virtually any team that has a healer. If you can build only one 5-star character, Furina is the strongest contender.
- Role: Off-field Hydro DPS / Universal DMG% buffer / HP manipulator
- Best Weapon: Splendor of Tranquil Waters (5★)
- Best Artifact: 4-pc Golden Troupe
- HP Target: 35,000–40,000 (before Hydro Resonance)
- ER% Target: 160–180% (solo Hydro); 140–160% (double Hydro)
- Talent Priority: Elemental Burst > Elemental Skill > Normal Attack
- Best F2P Weapon: Fleuve Cendre Ferryman (4★, fishing)
Best Weapons for Furina
Furina’s weapon priorities are Skill DMG%, HP%, Energy Recharge, and Crit stats. Her signature weapon is a massive power spike because it provides everything she wants in one package. However, she has excellent 4-star alternatives, including a completely free weapon obtained through fishing in Fontaine.
| Weapon | Rarity | Base ATK | Secondary Stat | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Splendor of Tranquil Waters | 5★ | 542 | 88.2% Crit DMG | Signature weapon. Massive Crit DMG stat stick, plus Skill DMG% and HP% buffs when her HP fluctuates (which it always does). Best-in-slot by a significant margin. |
| Fleuve Cendre Ferryman | 4★ | 510 | 45.9% ER | Best F2P option. Obtained via fishing in Fontaine. High ER substat solves her energy needs, and the passive boosts Skill Crit Rate by up to 16% at R5. Excellent utility. |
| Festering Desire | 4★ | 510 | 45.9% ER | Limited event weapon (v1.2). If you have it, this is her best 4-star. Boosts Skill DMG by 32% and Skill Crit Rate by 12% at R5. Unavailable to newer players. |
| Favonius Sword | 4★ | 454 | 61.3% ER | Team battery option. High ER and energy particles for the whole team. Lower personal damage than Fleuve or Festering, but enables smoother rotations in energy-hungry teams. |
Other Notable Weapons
- Primordial Jade Cutter (5★): 44.1% Crit Rate, HP% passive. Excellent stat stick if you don’t have her signature. The HP conversion adds some damage.
- Key of Khaj-Nisut (5★): Massive HP% substat (66.2%). Mostly for Nilou, but provides the highest HP total for Furina’s personal damage scaling. Team EM buff is a bonus.
- Wolf-Fang (4★, Battle Pass): Skill and Burst Crit Rate boost. Decent but requires R3+ to compete with Fleuve/Festering.
- Pipe (Fleuve Cendre Ferryman) is seriously good — do not sleep on fishing for it if you’re F2P.
Best Artifacts for Furina
Furina’s off-field Skill damage is her primary source of personal DPS, making 4-pc Golden Troupe the undisputed best set. The 70% Skill DMG bonus from the 4-pc effect is active whenever Furina is off-field, which is almost always. Alternative sets exist for specific team roles, but Golden Troupe is the standard recommendation.
| Artifact Set | 2-pc Bonus | 4-pc Bonus | Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Golden Troupe | +20% Skill DMG | +25% Skill DMG (total 45%). When off-field, an additional +25% Skill DMG (total 70%). | Best-in-slot in all teams. Maximizes her Salon Solitaire (Mademoiselle Crabaletta, Surintendante Chevalmarin, Gentilhomme Usher) damage. |
| Tenacity of the Millelith | +20% HP | When Skill hits an enemy, all party members gain +20% ATK and +30% Shield Strength for 3s. | Support-oriented alternative. Furina’s minions can trigger the 4-pc effect, providing a permanent 20% ATK buff to the team. Use this if your carry scales with ATK and nobody else holds Tenacity. |
| 2-pc HP + 2-pc Hydro DMG | +20% HP / +15% Hydro DMG | None | Transitional mixed set. Use 2-pc Tenacity/Vourukasha + 2-pc Heart of Depth/Nymph’s Dream while farming Golden Troupe. Roughly 10–15% behind 4-pc Golden Troupe. |
Main Stats & Substats
- Sands: HP% or Energy Recharge (HP% if you meet ER requirements, ER% sands if you can’t hit 160–180% from substats and weapon)
- Goblet: HP% (generally best — see FAQ for HP vs Hydro comparison)
- Circlet: Crit Rate or Crit DMG (aim for a 1:2 ratio)
Substat priority: ER% (until requirement met) > Crit Rate / Crit DMG > HP% > Flat HP > ATK% (ATK is a dead stat on Furina).
Ideal build: HP/HP/Crit with enough ER from substats and weapon to burst every rotation. This is her most consistent and highest-damage setup.
Best Team Compositions
Furina’s power is her universality. Unlike most supports who specialize in one reaction or element, Furina’s DMG% buff applies to all damage types. She enables Marechaussee Hunter on any carry (44% free Crit Rate), and her off-field Hydro damage is substantial. Here are her three strongest team archetypes:
1. Neuvillette Hypercarry
- Neuvillette — On-field Hydro hypercarry (Marechaussee Hunter, HP/Hydro/Crit)
- Furina — Off-field Hydro DPS + DMG% buffer (Golden Troupe, HP/HP/Crit)
- Kazuha — Viridescent Venerer shred + crowd control + Elemental DMG% buff
- Baizhu / Charlotte / Xilonen — Team-wide healer to generate Fanfare stacks and sustain HP drain
This is widely considered the strongest team in Genshin Impact. Double Hydro resonance gives both Neuvillette and Furina +25% HP. Neuvillette’s self-healing and HP fluctuation generate Fanfare stacks rapidly. The synergy is near-perfect.
2. Hu Tao Double Hydro Vape
- Hu Tao — On-field Pyro DPS (Marechaussee Hunter or Crimson Witch)
- Furina — Off-field Hydro + DMG% buffer (Golden Troupe)
- Yelan / Xingqiu — Second Hydro for resonance, energy, and additional vapes
- Jean / Xianyun / Baizhu — Team-wide healer (Jean is classic for VV shred + instant team heal)
Furina replaces Xingqiu in traditional Hu Tao teams, enabling Hu Tao to use Marechaussee Hunter (free 36% Crit Rate when HP fluctuates). The caveat: Hu Tao stays above 50% HP instead of below, which changes her playstyle. Xianyun adds Plunging Attack synergy. Furina’s buff applies to all of Hu Tao’s damage, making this a top-tier single-target team.
3. Universal Flex Slot (Any Team with a Healer)
- Furina — DMG% buffer + off-field DPS
- Any on-field carry — Itto, Xiao, Wriothesley, Ayaka, Raiden, Navia, Clorinde, etc.
- Team-wide healer — Jean, Baizhu, Charlotte, Mika, Xianyun, Xilonen (the healer is mandatory)
- Flex support — Buffer, shielder, or sub-DPS appropriate to the carry
This is Furina’s true strength: she works with everyone. Pair her with any carry, add any team-wide healer, and you have a competitive team. The universal DMG% buff means she buffs Physical, Anemo, Geo, and Dendro carries just as effectively as Pyro/Hydro/Electro/Cryo. No other support in the game has this level of flexibility.
Talent Priority
| Priority | Talent | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1st (Crown) | Elemental Burst — Let the People Rejoice | Her Burst is the entire reason to pull Furina. At level 10, it grants up to 75% team-wide DMG% bonus at max Fanfare stacks. Every level increases the maximum DMG% buff. Crown this first. |
| 2nd (Crown) | Elemental Skill — Salon Solitaire | Her primary source of personal damage. The three Salon Members attack automatically and scale directly with talent level. At level 10+, Mademoiselle Crabaletta hits extremely hard. |
| 3rd (skip) | Normal Attack — Soloist’s Solicitation | Only used to trigger her Arkhe: Pneuma alignment or for C6 on-field play. Base multipliers are low and she is never played as a physical attacker. Leave at level 1. |
Recommended stopping point: Burst level 9–10 (Crown), Skill level 9–10, Normal Attack level 1.
Optimal Stats & Breakpoints
| Stat | Target | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| HP | 35,000–40,000 | Furina’s Skill damage scales purely with HP (no ATK scaling on her minions). Her A4 passive caps the bonus Skill DMG at 40,000 HP. After 40K, HP still increases damage but with diminishing returns. Aim for 35K minimum, 40K ideal. Hydro Resonance (+25% HP) helps reach this. |
| Energy Recharge | 160–180% (solo Hydro) 140–160% (double Hydro) |
Her 60-cost Burst is essential to cast every rotation. In solo-Hydro teams, she needs significant ER. Double Hydro with another Favonius user dramatically lowers requirements. Fleuve Cendre Ferryman or Festering Desire solves most ER problems. |
| Crit Rate / Crit DMG | 1:2 ratio (70:140+ ideal) | Standard DPS build. Golden Troupe gives no Crit stats, so you need all your Crit from weapon and artifacts. Favonius users want at least 60% Crit Rate for reliable passive procs. |
| Hydro DMG Bonus | 46.6% or HP% | HP goblet is generally better (see FAQ). Golden Troupe already provides 70% Skill DMG, and her Burst provides up to 75% DMG%, both of which are additive with Hydro DMG%. This heavily dilutes the value of a Hydro goblet compared to an HP goblet. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: HP goblet or Hydro DMG goblet — which is better for Furina?
A: HP goblet is generally better. Furina already gets an enormous amount of DMG% from her artifact set (70% from 4-pc Golden Troupe) and her Burst (up to 75% DMG% at C0, 100% at C1). Since DMG% bonuses are additive with each other, adding 46.6% Hydro DMG on top of an existing 145–175% DMG% is a smaller relative gain than increasing her base HP, which her Skill damage directly scales from. HP goblet also makes hitting the 40K HP breakpoint easier and improves her healing in Pneuma mode. The difference is ~3–8% in favor of HP, but substats are more important — use whichever has better Crit and ER rolls. At very high Furina investment (C2+ with signature), Hydro goblet catches up because her HP is already enormous.
Q: Is Splendor of Tranquil Waters (her signature) worth pulling?
A: It depends on the weapon banner and your current roster. Splendor is an excellent weapon — 88.2% Crit DMG is the highest in the game for a sword, and the passive is tailor-made for Furina’s HP-fluctuation mechanics. However, Fleuve Cendre Ferryman (free R5 from fishing) is only ~15–20% behind Splendor in team DPS. Furina’s C1 and C2 are larger account upgrades than her signature weapon. General priority: C0 Furina > C1 > C2 > Signature Weapon. If the weapon banner is paired with another weapon you want, it’s worth considering. Otherwise, save your primogems for constellations.
Q: Should I go for C1 or C2 Furina?
A: Both are excellent, but C2 is the major stopping point. C1 immediately gives 150 Fanfare stacks on Burst cast (37.5% DMG% at talent level 10) and raises the maximum Fanfare cap from 300 to 400 stacks, increasing her maximum DMG% buff from 75% to 100%. This is roughly a 15–20% team DPS increase. C2 makes Fanfare stacks generate 250% faster and converts excess Fanfare into HP% for Furina, dramatically increasing her personal damage and making her self-sufficient without needing a healer. C2 turns Furina from a great support into a broken one. If you can only pull one constellation, C1 is the better value-per-primogem; if you can pull two, C2 is one of the best vertical investments in the game.
Q: What is the best F2P weapon for Furina?
A: Fleuve Cendre Ferryman (the Fontaine fishing sword) is her best free-to-play weapon. You can obtain it and all refinement materials by exchanging fish at the Fontaine Fishing Association. At R5, it provides 45.9% Energy Recharge (solving most of her ER needs) and boosts her Elemental Skill Crit Rate by 16%. This weapon was practically designed for Furina. If you don’t want to fish, Favonius Sword is a universally available 4-star alternative that trades personal damage for team energy generation. Do not use ATK% swords like Amenoma Kageuchi or The Flute — Furina does not scale with ATK at all.
Q: How does Furina’s Fanfare mechanic actually work?
A: Fanfare is the core of Furina’s kit. Whenever any party member’s HP increases or decreases, Furina gains 1 Fanfare point per 1% of that character’s max HP changed. Her Elemental Skill drains team HP (generating Fanfare), and your healer restores HP (generating more Fanfare). Each Fanfare point grants 0.25% DMG% to the entire team (at talent level 10), up to 300 stacks = 75% DMG%. Key points: (1) Fanfare stacks are team-wide — draining/healing all four characters generates stacks faster. (2) A team-wide healer (Jean, Baizhu, Charlotte) is far more effective than single-target healers because they restore HP on all four characters simultaneously. (3) The DMG% buff ramps up over the Burst’s 18-second duration. If you burst, drain HP for 9 seconds, then heal, you only have the full buff for the second half of the Burst. Optimizing Fanfare ramp-up is the skill ceiling of playing Furina.
